SENIOR ART THESIS EXHIBITION

ARTIST STATEMENT

Having grown up in New York City when I first came to Hamilton it was hard to not notice the obvious change in environment. From the architecture to the landscape to the wandering deer that would pass by my window at night. I yearned for this environment for the longest time and finally was able to be a part of it. Four years later and I am leaving this sanctuary to return home. I realized I took this place for granted and through my senior thesis wanted the opportunity to reflect on the environment we inhabit as Hamilton students. Capturing images from off campus such as farmland, live-stock and “wilderness” projected onto campus buildings represents the world I have lived in for four years. My thesis is a visual exploration of the symbiotic relationship between nature and academia, which reminded me of the importance of cherishing the environments that shape us. As I graduate from this beloved place that I now call “home,” I carry with me not only memories but also a newfound appreciation and knowledge for the richness of our surroundings.
