ARTIST STATEMENT
For the past year or so, my artistic process has centered practices that reinvigorate my connection with the earth’s materiality. My studio space is home to a large assortment of materials, tools, and objects - each one with their own identity and history. Most of my materials are found or thrifted, and many of my tools have had a number of previous owners. Using, transforming, and engaging with objects in my studio has become a way for me to practice learning about and honoring their individual qualities and histories. earthborne presence, among other things, is an expression of my gratitude and respect towards everything the earth has to offer, in the form of a monument built off the architecture of a deceased pine tree.
