Project Description

Your group will design a website on warp containing your group's audit documents. The website must meet the following constraints:

the website design must be accessible
the design must meet Nielsen's usability guidelines
all pages in the website must employ a consistent style
the website must contain a well-designed navigation system (either horizontal or vertical—it's up to you)
all pages must validate for XHTML
all CSS must validate
the website must be self-contained (i.e., it should not link to documents or stylesheets located elsewhere on warp)
the author(s) of each document must be clearly identified in the document
the homepage of the website must contain the following information:
- the website audited
- the reviewers
- general comments about the audited website
- links to specific audit documents
- links to example redesigned pages. Note: you should not link directly to your redesigned page. Instead, you should link to a “gateway” page containing:
  - a brief description of the problems you've found on the original page
  - a brief explanation of what you've done to correct these problems
  - a link to the original page
  - a link to your redesigned page

You will work out the details of designing and implementing your group's audit document website in meetings with your group. Keep notes on these meetings, specifically addressing the tasks you personally have been assigned, in your blog.

You will demonstrate your group's audit document website during the presention to our clients on Tuesday, May 8, so it must be completed by that date.

Grading

Your grade for this part of the groupwork is based on 150 points, distributed as follows:

Schedule

The following table gives deadlines for aspects of the assignment. Don't forget that you must write a blog entry for each meeting specified in the table.

The meetings listed below are required; you will probably find it useful to meet one or more extra times. If you do, include a personal meeting summary in your blog for each of these extra meetings.

Wednesday, May 2	Before midnight: Meet to discuss website design and division of labor for Groupwork Part 2. (Your notes on this meeting should be reflected in your blog.) In particular, assign tasks to prepare a prototype homepage, including the navigation system, for demonstration to the class on Thursday.
Thursday, May 3	Demonstration to the class of the prototype home page for your group's audit document website. After class, write a blog entry about how your presentation went and what you need to work on.
Friday, May 4	Before midnight: Meet to discuss your group's progress in this assignment; if necessary, reallocate tasks. (Your notes on this meeting should be reflected in your blog.)
Sunday, May 6	Before midnight: Meet to discuss the impending deadline and decide what needs to be done so that you will be able to meet it. (Your notes on this meeting should be reflected in your blog.)
Tuesday, May 8	Before 9:00 a.m.: Your group's audit website should be ready for presentation to the client webmaster.
Tuesday, May 8	Self-assessment and assessment of other group members for Groupwork Part 2 due before 5:00 p.m. (It will become available in Blackboard at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7.)
