CPSCI 307-01: Evolutionary Computation

Homeworks 4-6

For this assignment, you'll read three GECCO papers and write a review of each. Due dates are indicated below.

Each review should have two components:

• an evaluative component, in which you write a general review of the paper (what it's about, how easy it is to follow, how focused it is, etc.)
• an explanatory component, in which you explain clearly one particular point made in the lecture

Your review should be 1 full single-spaced page in length if you were to write it as a paper. Instead of submitting it as a paper, though, you will mark it up in HTML and post it on your website.

As I indicated in class, you have a wide range in exactly what format your review web page(s) take. All I ask is that you include full bibliographic information for each paper being reviewed, and that there be one central location on your website from which each of your reviews may easily be found. (The simplest way to do this, of course, would be to have all three reviews on a single web page, but I'm not requiring that.) Once you've decided where your central location is, send me the URL. I'll post a link to your reviews on the class homepage.

Once you've decided on your central location, you'll submit your reviews simply by making sure each is available from that central location by the date indicated below.

Homework 4

Review a paper from GECCO 2005, following the instructions above. Post your review by 5:00 pm on April 5.

Homework 5

Review a paper from GECCO 2006, following the instructions above. Post your review by 5:00 pm on April 12.

Homework 6

Review another paper from either GECCO 2005 or 2006, following the instructions above. Post your review by 5:00 pm on April 19.
