National and College Awards

1998 “1998 Outstanding Professor of the Year” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement and Support of Education, 1998. This award is also honored by citations from Vice-President Al Gore, Governor George Pataki, and Congressman Sherwood Boehlert.

1995 "Class of 1963 Award for Excellence in Teaching" Hamilton College, 1995. This award is granted once a year to an untenured faculty member who demonstrates excellence in teaching.

1986-1988 "Outstanding Teacher" awarded at the University of Illinois in 1986, 1987, and 1988 while serving as Teaching Assistant.
