upon recently being named the 1998 Outstanding Baccalaureate College
Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement
and Support of Education.
I understand that you have developed "cutting-edge" teaching
materials and among your contributions are the creation of a
multi-media CD-ROM and related publications that use authentic
Chinese language materials, such as movie excerpts, television shows,
and news reports, photographs and animation, to provide instruction
and cultural context for learning the language.
It is pleasing to see residents of our community recognized
on such a high level.
