The brain is our most fascinating and complicated organ, and it governs the very nature of our conscious existence. To understand the central nervous system is important as a topic of basic science and for its obvious medical benefits. Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system, and this field uses approaches from many different disciplines, including biology, chemistry, and psychology. The study of neuroscience provides a remarkable opportunity for students to understand the interrelationships between the basic sciences and how those disciplines intersect with philosophy, mathematics, and computer science.
