Writing Assignment #1
 
The first writing assignment is due October 19th, 2006 at the beginning of class. If you will not be present, email it or leave it in my box in advance. Be sure to submit it to Turnitin.com as well (if you do not know how, email me a copy of the assigment or leave a floppy disk or flash drive in my mailbox--it will be returned).

For this assignment, you should summarize the main issues and/or goals of your movement, provide a one-paragraph summary of the history of the movement, and outline what organizations and what types of activists have been involved in the movement. Your assignment must be completed individually, though you are welcome to talk about your work with group members. Your assignment should be approximately one page (300 to 400 words), typed, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins and 12-point font. In addition, you must include a bibliography and proper citations. Assignments should be written in a formal writing style with complete paragraphs, though they need not include an introduction or conlcusion, and should be proofread. They are worth up to 3 points.
