Treatment
The main treatment today for students with ADD are prescription drugs such as Dexedrine, Cylert, and Ritalin.

Cylert: This drug has a pharmacological activity similar to that of other central nervous system stimulants.

Dexedrine: This is an amphetemine helps control behavioral disturbance and thought disorder in psychotic children. It is used upon patients who do not respond well to Ritalin.

Ritalin: This is a mild central nervous stimulant. It is supposed that it activates the brain stem arousal system.

There are also non-drug treatments available today that are used to treat ADD. The newest form of these is a naturally occurring compound that is composed from a water processed extract from the bark of the French Maritime Pine Tree. It is not a drug and is not herbal. It has a general calming impact upon people with ADD and improves organizational and behavioral skills.
Besides these drug treatments, the other options for dealing with ADD children include separate schooling or classroom separation. These are important because they suggest that maybe medication is not the only or best solution. It might be better not to let students with ADD be allowed to attend regular schools or maybe they should have special classes.
