Alan W. Cafruny (Ph.D., Cornell), Henry Platt
Bristol Professor of International Affairs, teaches in the areas of
International Relations and European Politics. He is the author of
Ruling the Waves: The Political Economy of International Shipping
(1987), The State of the European Community: The Maastricht Debates
and Beyond (1993), and Europe's Ambiguous Unity: Conflict and
Cooperation in the Post-Maastricht Era (1997); and The Political
Economy of European Foreign Policy (1998). His articles have appeared
in International Organization, the Yearbook of International
Political Economy, and Review of International Political Economy.
In 1993 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the European
Community Studies Association. He is External Professor in the Department
of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute
(Florence, Italy).
