Students benefit from the study of psychology in two important ways. First, they come to know the factors that have influenced their own development, thereby gaining insight into the biological, psychological and social forces that shape the human condition. Second, they come to see the beauty of the scientific method through its application in laboratory experiments and field studies, thereby gaining insight into one of the major avenues through which knowledge is acquired.
