ARTIST STATEMENT:

As someone with attention deficit disorder, I often struggle to control the unrelenting streams of thought within my own mind. Growing up, I was embarrassed and ashamed of this incapacity, as it often got me into trouble with my parents, teachers, and occasionally, my friends. Over the past few years, however, I have begun to view my ADD as an asset, a direct contributor to my creative and artistic tendencies.
My project represents a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance through paint. Using my daydreams as a guide, my pieces explore the phrenetic inner workings of my mind and recontextualize them into organized, complex mindscapes. Through this process, my project celebrates the wandering mind and encourages others to do the same.
