ARTIST STATEMENT:
Eroding Sequence, Dispersions, and Spirals are the results of a year-long exploration of printmaking in which I sought to push the boundaries of traditional intaglio technique. Printmaking gained historical significance through its unprecedented ability to replicate text and images by means of a highly technical process; my printmaking style takes advantage of these qualities by using repetition and various techniques to create abstract prints. By presenting multiple iterations of each print the pieces become bigger than their individual units, and through the combination of etching, aquatint, and open biting, each piece explores the balance between chaos and control.
