Welcome

Music HomepageStudents with a deep interest in and commitment to music will find many opportunities in the Hamilton College Music Department to continue to explore their interests and to develop as musicians. An integral part of a liberal arts education, music at Hamilton College blends the study of theoretical concepts and historical contexts of many styles of music with extensive opportunities for both private study and public performance. In addition to courses in music theory, history, private lessons, and various ensembles, the curriculum includes courses in world music (Latin America, Javanese gamelan, West African drumming), European art music traditions, Black voices in song, music and film, folk and country music, the history of jazz, jazz arranging, composition, conducting, music technology, and audio production.

This website contains information for prospective students, music concentrators and minors, members of ensembles, and students taking private lessons.
