Resources for Musicians

Help with free internet access – This is an article about Spectrum providing some free services to those who need it.  We can't vouch for any of it, of course.  But it's something that looks very promising if you need assistance with internet access while away from campus during our period of online instruction this spring.

Naxos Music Library – Naxos is an enormous catalogue of recordings of classical music (in addition to some other genres). Once you log into the Hamilton Library via the link, you can search, listen, make playlists, use great resources, etc. Here is a good page that explains how it all works.

IMSLP – download music scores in the public domain

musictheory.net – customize and practice music theory exercises

Grove/Oxford Music Online – an excellent starting place for music research

Nightly Metropolitan Opera Live Streams – These free streams will present encores of its famed Live in HD series. The performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night and will then be available for an additional 20 hours there after. Each performance will also be viewable on the Met Opera on demand apps.

Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall – normally a paid subscription service, the Berlin Philharmonic is making access to this archive of recorded concerts temporarily free!

Virtual Rehearsing – article on techniques and technology the BayBerry String Quartet uses to rehearse remotely.

An Interactive Guide to 100 Musical Instruments – click on hundreds of musical instruments from around the world to hear what they sound like. Please note, the site takes a little extra time to load, so be patient. It's worth it!
