Joy Chinaza Ezechikamnayo

Chinaza Ezechikamnayo (She/Her/Hers), is a rising senior from Nigeria studying at Saint Mary's College, Indiana. At 17, she left and attended the African Leadership Academy in Jo'burg, South Africa, and since then, she has been roaming the earth. Jk. She has studied abroad at John Cabot University, Rome, where she improved her portrait painting skills and finally achieved her vain dream of being a cheerleader. In her free time, she likes to ride her bicycle, read fiction, and drink tea with her friends. Because she loves the woeful bemoanings of the existentialists, you will mostly find her lying down in a large expanse of lawn, listening to AJR, and contemplating the political and economic state of the world.

Sam Flaherty

Hamilton College

Sam is a rising junior at Hamilton College concentrating in Philosophy and minoring in Linguistics and French. Just about any philosophical topic can get her excited! (Don't ask her which course was her favorite, she'll say they all have taught her valuable things in incomparable ways.) Beyond the classroom, she engages her passions for writing and thinking as a Writing Center tutor, Philosophy teaching assistant, and editor for the academic journal Suture. Sam is also an avid dancer (who performs with the Hamilton Dance Department and choreographs for various student dance clubs), baker (who will gladly bake your birthday cake), and coffee connoisseur (who may or may not convince you to walk with her to Utica Coffee).

Her current philosophical interests include philosophy of science, and philosophy of language, theories of blameworthiness, ethics of interpersonal relationships. She's especially fascinated by the question of when and why statistically accurate social generalizations can be unjustified, which she is currently exploring in her research. Polly has a soft spot for both sports and doing absolutely nothing—she recently picked up bouldering but is just as content sleeping in all weekend. She loves trees, good ice cream, and spending time with herself and her headphones, though she can never resist late-night conversations with friends or playing with a cute dog (which means every dog).

Minh Ngoc Nguyen

Franklin and Marshall

Minh Ngoc (She/Her/Hers) is an international student from Vietnam at Franklin and Marshall College, double majoring in Philosophy and Psychology. As of recently, she is interested in philosophy of education, phenomenology, and feminist epistemology. Her favorite pastime activity is playing board games with her brothers and catching them cheating (and she will). She also likes to play guitar (badly of course), draw (Bob Dylan in 5 seconds), watch TV shows at 2x speed, and annoy everyone about Rousseau, Brothers Karamazov, Vietnamese music, Naruto soundtrack, and Bob Dylan. Lastly, she will give you coffee.

Justyna Olesiejuk

University of Warsaw

Justyna is a second-year student pursuing two degrees at the Univeristy of Warsaw— law and philosophy. She thrives where abstract questions meet real-world consequences, especially in areas like human rights, discrimination, and the ethics of emerging technologies. She’s a fan of ethical dilemmas and keeps trying to talk about Donna Haraway or Kantian ethics over dinner (to the great misfortune of her friends and family). Curious about how ideas shape people’s lives, Justyna has interned at the Office of Polish Commissioner for Human Rights, won her university’s Human Rights Olympiad, and spent three years teaching philosophy to high school students just because she loves it. When she’s not studying from handwritten flashcards kept in jars — which she’s known for and carries with her everywhere — she enjoys long walks and backpacking. Once, she walked 554 miles (892 km) across Spain. She claims not to like Aristotle, but ironically, there’s something Peripatetic about her after all.

Karolina Osica

University of Warsaw

Karolina is a sophomore at the University of Warsaw, pursuing degrees in Philosophy and American Studies, while also taking courses in Sociology. She’s active in her department’s student council and works part-time as a primary school teacher and as an educator for a foundation supporting refugees and migrants in Poland. With friends, she also cooks and serves weekly lunches for people experiencing homelessness. In her (limited) free time, she enjoys running, climbing, and cooking, and if she didn’t already have so much college reading, she’d be reading even more for fun.

Emily Velasquez

California State University, Northridge

Emily has loved writing since childhood, which is what inspired her to aim for a career in journalism. Since starting college she has written multiple stories, both for regular publication and for magazines. Her main philosophical interest is ethics, specifically utilitarianism. Although she enjoys delving into complex philosophical topics, she also enjoys playing video games a lot during her free time. She has collections of many items such as pressed pennies, vintage items, and Calico Critters, and is always looking for more trinkets to collect.

Wright Williams
