ARTIST STATEMENT:

My artwork introduces past and present statements concerning immigration coming from previous presidents. These statements are hand stenciled onto an exaggerated replica of the American flag, which metaphorically becomes a wall.

As the representative of the American people, our current president provokes the vilification of immigrants. From the previous statements we can surmise, that was not always the case. Immigrants were not always detestable. My activism has been a response to the new found “American First,” isolationism. It arises from my immigrant background and I have come to it openly and honestly. I do not know where this work may lead but it was eye opening to witness the racial turmoil.
