ARTIST STATEMENT:

My art embodies sisterhood; the childhood whimsy of putting on plays, the hushed excitement of shared secrets, the laughs heard Sunday morning in a buzzing household. We grew up together—we are still growing—guided by par-ents that provided values, support and protection, but also independence. My family has molded and shaped me.
For my senior project, I have created a three-piece nar-rative of my growth through abstract ceramics: a mother’s quilt covering her daughter’s body, three girls leaning on one another and a diptych of two parental forms having their own conversation. Change happens at an unsteady pace, but it is the people that surround us who help us develop into our own person.
