ARTIST STATEMENT:

I use photography and the moving image as a way to explore the metaphysical and create a space of reconciliation in the duality of immanence and transcendence. Driven by pulses of the unknown and the tension that arises between the limitations of physicality and the possibility of spirit, I have come to understand immanence as the presence of the spiritual/sublime in the physical world and transcendence as the ability to experience beyond the physical world. Merging the poetry of light with depictions of the human figure, this body of work entices the viewer into a space of simultaneous stillness, movement and breadth by virtue of perception. This relationship reflects how immanence and transcendence manifest through our bodies, evoking the possibility of embodying light.
