ARTIST STATEMENT:
A journey through space and time can change or confirm our identities. My senior art thesis explores my family story through three generations. It represents our journey through our shared memories. Circling the Atlantic, my ancestors immigrated from Spain to Cuba. Later, my parents left Cuba for the United States. After my joyful childhood in Florida, my journey to adulthood began with my trek to Hamilton. Now, I anticipate taking flight once again. In weaving together these symbolic images in my paintings and intaglio prints, I reimagine and proudly celebrate my family’s odyssey.
