The Department has five main laboratories dedicated as teaching lab space. On one end of the floor is the Introductory Chemistry lab, the Organic Lab and the Biochemistry lab. These are served by a Prep room located adjacent to the entrances of the Intro lab and the Organic Lab and an Instrument Room with access from the main hallway and from the Organic Lab. The upper level laboratory spaces are on the opposite end of the floor and is configured as a suite with space for Physical Chemistry on one side, the "Superlab" space on the other (used for our junior level Research Methods course) and both an instrument room and a conference room in between. Teaching spaces, especially Superlab, are sometimes used as overflow research space in the the summertime. In addition to the wet lab spaces, the department has a large computer room and a lounge, both of which are fully accessible to all students. The building also has numerous small study rooms and large working spaces outside of faculty offices so it is a comfortable place for students to study and socialize.
