My video project invites viewers to consider the ways in which technology is shaping our understanding of emotions and our interactions with the world. Specifically, I explore the emotional intelligence of artificial intelligence (AI) through prompted imagery that captures its ability to perform introspection.
AI is a type of computer software designed to mimic human intelligence and thinking. However, I’ve found that it lacks the emotional awareness and empathy that is innate to humans. My project focuses on the emotional capacity of AI and how it replicates human emotions.
My project approaches the prompts inputted into the AI software mid-journey as a science experiment. I change variables for each prompt, experimenting with different types of emotion to observe how the AI reacts and responds. This approach allows me to explore the emotional intelligence of AI in a controlled and scientific manner, creating a unique and thought-provoking viewing experience.
It is clear that the ability of machines to comprehend emotions is limited, and this has implications for the future of our relationship with technology and to each other.
