Artist Statement

As an artist, I am fascinated by the intimacy that can be found in the everyday moments shared between couples and friends. In my series of nine tondo oil paintings, I seek to capture these fleeting winks of connection, highlighting the beauty in the ordinary and mundane.

Each painting depicts a unique moment of intimacy, from falling asleep while watching a movie to a deep embrace. By zooming in on these moments, I want to create a private lens for viewers to feel like they are in the scene with the subjects. Through close-up compositions and a warm, muted color palette, I aim to evoke a sense of closeness and nostalgia in viewers.

When so many of us feel isolated and disconnected, I hope my paintings can offer a sense of comfort and connection. By reminding viewers of the moments of closeness they may have experienced in their own lives, I aim to inspire a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the relationships we have with one another.

Ultimately, my goal with this series is to celebrate the beauty of human connection and encourage viewers to seek out and cherish those moments of intimacy in their own lives.
