Artist Statement

This project is a collaboration between myself and my parents through sewing and our connections to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. To represent this, I created a set of colonial dresses—which once influenced the Choctaw’s current traditional dress—and embedded small parts of our history within.

I would like to thank the Steven Daniel Smallen Memorial Fund, the Wellin Museum, my parents, and the faculty who keeps us able to create artwork.
